Crack out the Gucci loafers and silk shirt for these fruity disco and jazz-funk flights of fancy inspired by ‘80s Naples, from Roman artist Alessandro La Padula - commonly known as pAd - following his reworks of Alessandro Adriani

“Guitarist and producer Lapa Dula presents his debut album "Agua", an album of memories, in search of the sounds of Naples (and its surroundings) from the first half of the 80s, a time when the city was alive with cultural and social excitement, that creates an aesthetic and musical collage centered around nostalgia, for the places where the artist (Alessandro La Padula) spent his childhood, but also as a tribute to the myths and legends (old and new) of Partenope. Some unique stories are told by this new talent emerging from the Pellegrino label, co-producer of Agua, pioneer in the enhancement of certain Mediterranean sounds among funk, Latin, world music, and disco. From Sibilla, inspired by the myth of the Cumaean Sibyl, the Priestess of Apollo, but also a nostalgic memory of rural life, to the vernacular Scemanfu, a sort of crasis from the French "je m'en fous" (I don't care), as well as Navigante, with its ambiguous meaning, dedicated to those who have made the sea their home and those who have made their life in the virtual world. And finally, Baibai, sung in English, which takes inspiration from an expression born in the 1700s from the adventurous and licentious events of the English nobleman Sir Nathaniel Thorold, resident on the island of Capri.”
