Bogotá, Colombia’s Tomas Station ventures into purring, gently lysergic ambient dance trax under his new alias for the Second Circle of Music From Memory.

Debuting as ISOR26 after a decade under various monikers (Irie Nation, Johnny Deepp, Encuentros), Tomas Station follows his nose for rolling grooves down the rabbit hole with dreamy results. Recorded at an old flat in Lisbon with mic, computer, Korg MS20, hang drum and field recorder, ‘Moon Phase Gardening’ is conceptually framed around the idea that the lunar cycle affects plant growth, and sees him discretely pruning indigenous South American and Afro-Latin rhythms into effortlessly breezy structures bathed in nocturnal pads and sparsely strewn with evocative vocal samples. Swining into operation with the Smallville-esque minimal house lilt of ‘Spirals’, he subtly sprawls out across a dream-textured topography of styles, roving from the early ‘90s Orb-like ambient bump of ‘Genesis’ thru kosmiche arps of ‘Mi Vida’ and the tight lattice of glinting Latinate drums under arcing arps in ‘Doll House City’. The elegant weft of scudding bass pulses and flyaway flute in ‘Raga Soledad’ feels like a private Goa party soundtrack, and the mood really takes him offworld with the spilling helixes of ‘Take a Breath (Planetary Mix)’ before grounding in the grubbing swinge of ‘Transition (Descarga Mix)’.
