Arpanet – Hydrostatic Equilibrium
30DEXO-011
Dopplerffekt’s Gerald Donald aka Heinrich Mueller weaves Jacquardian arps and lines of spider’s silk synth on his first Arpanet EP in years
A follow-up to 2018’s ‘Phases EP’ with 30drop, also for 30D Records, the ‘Hydrostatic Equilibrium’ EP revolves two specialised synth works that model the artist’s observations, thoughts and feelings on deep space phenomena via digital synth prisms. ’Supernova Remnant’, as famously represented in the Hubble Sace Telescope’s classic image of the Crab Nebula, limns its subject in super wide bassline, spangled arps and phased streaks executed with Heinrich Muller’s inimitably crooked, hand-played sequence and eerily evocative touch. The more substantial ‘Main Star Sequence’ feels like a skeletal echo of his club works, shorn of kicks but hingeing around spaced-out claps and rhythmelodic arps foregrounded against unfathomable pads and just itching for a DJ to get it in the blend, where that end coda will perfectly elide with some proggier electro thrust.
